  • One Day

Before you all read this, I want you to know something. I wrote this five years ago, almost to the day, and it was a day that I'll never forget. It was the last day I ever self-harmed. It was also the day that I wrote the first version of One Day. Writing this helped me open my eyes to hope. I'm not quite sure how it happened, but from the second my fingers left the keyboard, I knew that what I wrote was true. I knew that one day, it would get better. Today, I know it has, and that it will continue to do so. I even wrote a follow up piece that I'll likely post next week. My hope today is that the written words of my own experience might give, if even only for a moment, a glimmer of hope to someone else who needs it just as much as I needed it that day, five years ago.
