5 Fitness Studios to Try in Salt Lake City

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Utah chapter.

Classes have been back in session for a few weeks and hopefully you’re settling back into your routine. Summer is such an easy time to get off track with your health and fitness goals because you don’t have the same consistent routine you do during your school year. Fall is the perfect time for you to check out all of the incredible fitness studios Salt Lake City has to offer. All of these studios are locally owned and are totally worth checking out. Who knows, maybe you’ll find a new favorite fitness routine.

1. Rideologie – Sugarhouse

Looking for a party on a bike? Look no further than Rideologie. Classes here will consistently challenge you, but you’ll be having so much fun moving to the music that you won’t even realize 45 minutes have gone by. Don’t let the concept of biking to the music scare you, I promise it’s nothing like the fitness dance class you might be picturing. For those of us who are not talented in the dance category, there’s no coordination required. You’ll spend 45 minutes riding to the beat of the music, switching between higher and lower resistance levels, and throwing in some moves like push-ups and tap backs to keep it interesting and work your whole body. Your first class is free, so what are you waiting for? If you want to really get your butt kicked, I highly recommend classes with Katie or Taylor. Warning: their classes aren’t for the faint of heart.

2. Maven Strong – Maven District

Do you love lots of different kinds of workouts and don’t want to go to a studio where you have to just pick one? Enter- Maven Strong. Maven offers so many different types of classes to help you get every kind of workout you want and need. You no longer have to go to different studios to work on your cardio, resistance training, and yoga! They offer reformer, TRX, Pilates, yoga, indoor cycling, and barre classes. Some of their classes even combine two of these categories into one class, and you can try your first Velo class at Maven Strong for free. For a limited time, they are also partnering with Normal Ice Cream to give you a free class. If you head on over to Normal and order a Maven Sando (cinnamon ice cream, chocolate shortbread, white chocolate dip, and maldon salt) you’ll get a free coupon for a free Maven Strong class. Ummm, who doesn’t want ice cream + a free sweat sesh?

3. Rebel House – Downtown Salt Lake City

Rebel House is one of the coolest studios in Salt Lake City. Their uplifting, motivating staff will keep you coming back for more. This studio delivers booty-kicking workouts along with killer motivational speeches that will make you want to go tackle all of your goals immediately after. They offer indoor cycling classes as well as boxing-inspired HIIT classes. If you’re new to the studio, you can buy your first two classes for $20 (so you can try Ride and Riot classes) OR go all in and purchase two weeks of unlimited classes for $39. If it were me (and yes, I have done it) I’d go for the two weeks of unlimited classes because you’re going to want to keep coming back.

4. Peak45 – Downtown Salt Lake City

You’ve probably never tried anything like Peak45 before. Peak45 offers Lagree Method classes, which are similar to Pilates but done on a machine called a megaformer. In this class, you will complete a series of movements done very slowly on the megaformer. Trust me, it’s way harder than it looks. This style of workout is known for making your body visibly shake. You’ll wonder how this is possible until you take the class, and then you’ll understand quickly. There’s a reason people call it Pilates on steroids. No matter how in shape you are, this class will kick your butt. You can try your first class for $10 OR commit to the shake and buy two weeks of unlimited classes for $39. You can also go sample the workout and get some munchies and mimosas at their free open house on October 13th.

5. Ultimate Combat Training Center – Sugarhouse

Nothing makes you feel more badass than completing a kickboxing class. This gym offers legitimate martial arts classes (Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Boxing), but also kickboxing classes tailored specifically with fitness in mind. The instructors here will make sure that you’re getting a killer workout while still correcting your form so that you’re performing kickboxing moves safely and effectively. You’ll leave drenched in sweat, I promise. If you’ve never tried a kickboxing class, this is a great way to switch up your routine and do something different. You can get your first three classes for $19.99 and you’ll get a free pair of boxing gloves to keep.

If you need to get back into your fitness routine or just switch it up, try one of these studios. No matter which one you choose, you’re going to have an amazing workout. Although these gyms offer different types of workouts, they all have a few things in common: welcoming and helpful instructors, fun classes, and killer workouts.
