“Stair Master this.”

“Running that.”

“How about incline walking?”
“Here’s some tips and tricks for cardio weight loss that are better than others.”

Well, I’ve heard enough.

Since wanting to get back in the gym and lose the freshman and relationship weight I’ve gained in the past semester, I’ve been searching for the best way to lose weight fast. I tried running one day. Next, I tried cycling. And the day after, I tried the stair master. But then I went back to incline walking.

I looked at Tik Tok gym girls to see what they did. Maybe I’d listen to Hailey Fernandez. Maybe I’d listen to others.

I’ve listened to my athletic boyfriend’s thoughts about running, thinking I’d lose weight so quickly from that. My best friend loves to run and so does my brother. I thought, “Maybe I will end up liking it.” The thing is though, I hated running. I’ve always hated running, even when I played sports. Even when I did track & field. So I moved onto the next type of cardio.

I tried cycling. I liked cycling in high school, but it gets boring to do every single day. I just got bored cycling multiple days in a row. So I walked past the bike and hopped on the stair master — and man, do I get the hype. I loved it. It made me sweat and I FELT it in my legs. The next day I was sore, yet I got back on. But after a few days of it, I just couldn’t do it. I resorted to incline walking on a treadmill.

But after a few days of incline walking, I got bored again.

Now my rotation is a mix of cycling, the stair master, and the occasional incline walking. The thing about it is to be consistent. So that’s what I’ve done.

I still see all these Tik Toks about losing weight in a week from just one type of cardio, claiming it’s the best. But I’ve lost weight and felt amazing by doing what I like and what makes me feel good. That’s all that matters.

So stop listening to the proclaimed best cardio option and listen to your body. Do what you like and what feels good.
