How To: Exercise In Your Dorm Room

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Binghamton chapter.

Your schedule is finally solidified and you are booked solid. It’s becoming harder to make time for friends much less finding time go to the gym. If you can’t motivate yourself to get out of bed, working out in your room is the way to go. It’s easy, fast and you don’t have to worry about running into anyone after an intense workout.

Make Space     Clear out all the extra clutter that’s wasting space like shoes, and put them in your closet. Not only will you have room to move but you’ll also have a cleaner room!

Use YouTube     There are tons of great workout videos on YouTube that are great to work out to. I love Blogilates, her work-outs will kick your butt while also having fun!

Use What You Have     Use that crazy rocking chair in your dorm room as a tool! You can do squats, and butt lifts all while sitting in your chair. Check out SparkPeople’s 12 Minute Seated Core Workout for inspiration. Have Some Supplies     Have a yoga-mat, weights and a resistance band. The yoga-mat helps so you aren’t doing your workouts on a cold floor and the weights are great to add a little bit of strength training during your workout. A lot of the YouTube videos use a resistance training band to stretch and work your muscles, so I would recommend investing in one! If you have no supplies, you can simply do crunches, planks and squats.
