Bite-Sized Therapy: 4 Personal Growth & Development Accounts To Follow On Instagram

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

I’ve talked about therapy. I’ve talked about the self-help genre. I’ve talked about the books, podcasts and Youtube channels I’ve come across on my continuous immersion into the world of mental health. The community surrounding mental health, support and advocacy is something I’m so grateful for, especially for the number of people who make the content needed to uplift themselves and each other. There are so many valuable resources at our disposal, and bite-sized therapy is within a closer reach than it ever has been before. For those of you who may be starting out on your journey of self-development and want to better your mental health through mindful media consumption while you’re at it, here are four of my favorite personal growth and development Instagram accounts:

@The.Holistic.Psychologist

Dr. Nicole LePera, better known as @The.Holistic.Psychologist, emphasizes the narrative that we all have the power within us to heal ourselves and become the version we want to be. This idea can be seen in action through her informatively detailed Instagram posts, linked podcasts and youtube channel. If you don’t know where to start when it comes to unpacking your mental narrative and daily behaviors, consider giving her page a look through.

@TheSecureRelationship

@TheSecureRelationship on Instagram follows a similar approach to Dr. Nicole LePera with her commitment to providing direct explanations and ways to cope with the things you want to change. She focuses on relationship healing and communication, while pushing for the goal of developing the skills you need to understand and own your role in the relationship. I’ve come to understand the importance of trust, vulnerability and responsibility through this account, while reframing old ways of thinking that caused anxiety and relationship OCD. For anyone working on gaining awareness and perspective within a partnership or themselves as a partner, this account is for you.

@LetsTalk.MentalHealth

For a less therapeutic approach, centered instead around mental health awareness, check out @LetsTalk.MentalHealth on Instagram. Operated on the mission towards general wellbeing, this account posts regularly and frequently about ways to up your mental health in the simple things that you already do every day, such as communicating with loved ones, sleeping, canceling plans or productivity planning. A wide variety of resources are available on the page through both informative posts and open discussion forums within comment sections and stories. The encouragement and community found through this account will be perfect for boosting you through bad days and good days alike.

@Regen_Health

Going down the same route as the last account mentioned, @Regen_Health provides support and positivity for those wanting to understand themselves better and live life through a more healthy and hopeful lens. Topics that they have covered include “Things to Quit Feeling Guilty For”, “Why Crying is Important” and “Things to Say to Your Loved Ones More Often”. In addition to providing valuable skills and habits to build, @Regen_Health also provides encouragement and the metaphorical ‘green light’ to help distinguish, celebrate and nourish what IS going right in our lives. There isn’t a single person that won’t benefit from some more positivity in their lives, and it seems like @Regen_Health agrees. Check them out if you are interested in not only improvement, but also encouragement.

I hope that this list has given you a couple of ideas for what resources are out there, as well as ideas for how you can incorporate more goodness into your everyday life. Remember that this isn’t an exhaustive list, and that there are many more accounts to branch out towards. Find your fit and make social media a happy place to be!
