Finding the perfect Christmas gift is always a challenge, even when you know the person like the back of your hand. But if you make a list of the person’s hobbies, interests, and passions, you might find that the ultimate present might be easier to find than you think — especially if they’re a gym rat, like me.

The “gym rat” of the friend group is your resident fitness enthusiast — and we aren’t as high maintenance as you think we are. In fact, I can promise that there are always about 25 generic items on the wishlist that would be more than appreciated. After all, since we hit the gym almost every day, our equipment is bound to get some wear and tear, right?

While working out can be done without equipment, there are definitely some items that are on every fitness enthusiast’s wishlist. If you know your fitness pal very well, consider the individual’s specific preferences, workout routine, and fitness goals when selecting a gift: Are they into yoga? Running? Whatever their preference is, there’s a gift out there for them — promise.

With that being said, here are nine gifts that are perfect for the gym rat, or fitness enthusiast, in your life.

Fitness Journal & Workout Planner ($13)

A fitness journal allows them to track workouts, set goals, and monitor progress. Some even come with motivational quotes and tips.

Fabric Resistance Bands ($26)

Versatile and portable, resistance bands add variety to workouts by providing resistance for strength training exercises. They’re great for home workouts or supplementing gym sessions.

The Healthy Meal Prep Cookbook: Easy and Wholesome Meals to Cook, Prep, Grab, and Go By Toby Amidor ($10)

A cookbook focused on nutritious, high-protein meals can be a great gift for meal preppers and busy bees!

Adidas Gym Bag ($33)

A durable and spacious gym bag can make it easier to carry essentials like a water bottle, towel, and gym clothes.

Hydroflask ($44)

A durable, insulated water bottle is never not essential — it’ll always be greatly appreciated.

JBL Wireless Earbuds ($35)

High-quality, sweat-resistant wireless earbuds are essential for a great workout.

Foam Roller Set ($35)

A foam roller is an excellent tool for self-myofascial release, helping to alleviate muscle tension and improve flexibility; a compact, travel-friendly option is always ideal.

Massage Gun ($50)

Percussive massage guns are great for post-workout recovery, and who doesn’t love a deep-tissue massage?

Fitbit Inspire 3 ($80)

A fitness tracker, like the Fitbit, can monitor heart rate, track steps, and provide valuable data for optimizing workouts.

Regardless of the gift you choose, it’s always the thought behind the gift that often matters most. I know it sounds cliché, but it’s true — the holidays are simply an opportunity to show thoughtfulness and consideration. Luckily, the gym rats won’t have to pretend to like any of these gifts!
