5 Floor Sex Positions To Try, Because Beds Are Overrated

Here’s the truth about a spontaneous hookup: You’re not always going to have a bed, or even a couch. And if you’re getting it on outside of a car or a jacuzzi, you may only have one surface suitable for sex… the floor. While having sex on a carpeted floor sounds like a recipe for rugburn, there are some great floor sex positions that not only feel great, but are comfortable to try out. And yes, you can try these on hardwood or tile, too.

Now, I already know what you’re thinking: why on Earth would I voluntarily choose to have sex on the floor? It’s a valid question, but I have the answer. Whether you’re in a college dorm, apartment, or even childhood home, having sex on the bed, couch, or other surface can make quite a bit of noise — even if you’re trying your best to be sneaky. However, having sex on the floor can eliminate the sounds of headboards and moving furniture, especially if you have some pillows and blankets in tow.

Looking to sneak in a spontaneous hookup? Or, do you just want to spice things up a little bit? Look no further: I’ve rounded up five floor sex positions that are comfortable, pleasurable, and won’t leave you with rugburn the next day. (Just consider putting a towel, a blanket, and maybe some pillows down, though.)

Over-the-shoulder

Missionary, with a twist! To do this position, have the partner that’s doing the penetrating get on top. Then, hook your legs over their shoulders as they penetrate. This position is super intimate and can be mad comfortable with the help of a few pillows under the knees, head, and back.

Planted cowgirl

This modification of the classic cowgirl is perfect for floor sex — no rugburn on these knees! Have the penetrating partner lay down on the floor and get on top. However, instead of kneeling, plant your feet directly on the floor, stabilizing yourself on your partner’s thighs or chest. Bonus points if they thrust from underneath.

Hips up

This is another comfortable twist on missionary. However, before assuming the missionary position, place a pillow or two underneath your hips so they’re raised. With your partner penetrating from the top, this position allows for deeper penetration and intensified clitoral stimulation.

Pronebone

Get the pillows ready. To do this position, lay on your belly (I recommend putting a pillow under your chin and stomach) with your legs out and hips raised. Then, have your partner penetrate from behind. This is a great pillow princess position that feels super good, IMHO.

Sideways 69

In this position, both parties will leave with an orgasm. As opposed to the typical 69, this position is a little more comfortable and way more intimate. To do it, lay on your side and have your partner do the same with your heads facing each other’s pleasure points. From there, pleasure each other until climax, or use this position for some wicked foreplay.
