Did you make a New Year’s Resolution to get in shape, lose weight, or any other sort of fitness related goal? If you did, good for you! Now here’s the bad news… As you probably know, the majority of New Year’s Resolutions are promptly broken, as seen with the spike, then rapid decline, in fitness center attendance. We all know it happens, we see it every year. Here are some tips and advice on how to successfully keep your resolutions and get into better shape for 2014.

First things first: Write down your goals and put them somewhere that you will see them every day. Make reminders in your phone, sticky notes on your mirror, anything that will keep your goals in your mind all the time.

Second: Have a friend set goals with you. This way you can have each other’s backs and motivate each other to go work out or to eat healthy in Aladdin. This is a big help for a lot of people. Motivation is key in a successful workout or diet plan, and it is very easy to get overwhelmed with schoolwork or just not have the drive to go to the gym. Having someone to workout with you will make this experience a lot more enjoyable.

Third: Make a conscious effort to stay away from the dessert bar. I struggle with this as much as the next person, but cutting desserts out of your diet (at least mostly cut them out) will greatly lower your calorie intake, therefore helping you stay fit. Also, eating a balanced diet can help your body’s metabolism and other functions work more efficiently and effectively, giving you more energy to go workout, plus all your other activities during the day.

If you take these three key tips and put them to use, you will have a successful resolution and a great 2014. Don’t give up on your goals and stay strong!
