Global warming is really taking its course this fall season. Instead of the leaves changing colors and a cold, crisp breeze moving through our hair, there are bees buzzing nearby and flowers blossoming. It’s the beginning of October and temperatures are still in the mid-90s! With this amount of heat, it is very important to be hydrated. Trust me, your body will thank you.

One of the most important reasons to be more hydrated is if you don’t drink enough water, you will eventually die. I know that sounds dark and scary, but it is the truth, folks! Water is the key to life, and if you don’t drink any water for 72 hours, your organs will begin to shut down.

Water can help you lose weight as well! There are so many fad diets out there that talk about how to cut out certain foods from your lifestyle, but many of them don’t mention adding water to your diet. The inclusion of water is like an “appetite suppressant” because there are so many times when you think you are hungry but in reality, you just need to drink some water to fill you up! Now, this doesn’t mean that you can use water as a substitute for any foods to lose weight. Only drink water as a replacement for food when you feel like you had a heavy meal earlier and don’t need to eat a large portion again.

A lot of people are not aware of this, but water also helps reduce hangovers. So if you and your girls are planning on going out for the night, remember to drink a glass of water between every drink, and one before you go to bed! Again, this is not an excuse for you to keep on drinking, because you can still get alcohol poisoning, so please be safe!

There are several more benefits to drinking water because it has so many amazing advantages! But on the other side, drinking too much water can cause hyponatremia, which is basically when our cells flood due to the lack of sodium but overflow of water. The key is to drink around half an ounce for every pound you weigh! With that being said, please drink water and make sure your body is hydrated, but most importantly, be safe! Do not use water as a substitute for food to lose weight or a way not to feel guilty about a hangover! It is a good tip to use once in a while, but not something you should abide to.
