Unique Ways to Exercise

We all know we should exercise at least a few times a week in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle. It sounds simple, 30 minutes to an hour a day should not take THAT much effort. Let’s be real, exercising can be a hit or miss. We have all had the one or two week gym phase where we’re doing so well and then suddenly, it’s over. It is important to find something that works for you. If you don’t, exercising is going to feel like a hassle rather than a time to de-stress and take a break. It should be enjoyable, but, that’s not always the case. Incorporating different ways to workout is a great way to challenge yourself and most importantly keep yours workouts efficient, yet fun. Here are some ways to modify the way you’re exercising.

1.      Blogilates

Going to the gym is not always in the cards for everybody. It can be expensive or you might just not have the energy to go there all the time. Blogilates is a perfect solution for at home workouts. The Blogilates YouTube channel has hundreds of videos for effective workouts. The best part is, they’re all fun. The videos are led by the creator of the channel, Cassey Ho so you always have someone motivating you to keep on pushing. She even offers free monthly workout plans in case you don’t know what videos to do every day.

2.      Couch to 5k program

For those enjoy running or just want to build up your stamina, the Couch to 5k program is awesome. It’s a free mobile app that sets up different time intervals for your run every day, so eventually you are able to run an efficient 5k in 30 minutes. The app tells you when to start and stop, so you do not have to worry about checking your phone every few minutes. Find a cool trail and start running!

3.      Gym Classes

If you go to a gym or use the USF gym, there are tons of classes readily available. They range from spinning, yoga, Pilates, full body workouts- anything you can think of; there is probably a class for it. These classes are great if you liked to be pushed. They will test your ability to keep up with the instructor, and you can even take them with friends for extra motivation. Sign up early, because classes fill up fast!

4.      Rock Climbing

Rock climbing is all the rave lately. There is a gym in St. Pete and Tampa called Vertical Ventures with awesome climbing walls for all levels. This is definitely a cool way to build strength and engage in cardio. It takes a lot of energy, but you will not notice once you start getting the hang of it. Classes are offered if you want to learn how to belay someone as well, but don’t worry, there’s self-belaying available if you’re just starting out.
