5 Ways to Have a Better Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UAB chapter.

We’ve all experienced days that just don’t go as planned. If you are having a “blah” day and need a pick-me-up, check out some of the following suggestions to improve your day and mood!

1. Pamper Yourself We all have our preferences when it comes to our beauty routines. If you use hair and/or face masks, paint your nails, or even take bubble baths, a not-so-great day is the perfect time to do these things. You’ll feel refreshed, productive, and overall better than you did before taking time to do those things.

2. Take Time for Yourself Removing yourself from others and stressful situations may be beneficial for you. Meditating may be a great option for you, or even just taking a nap! If you neither of those options appeal to you, relax and watch your favorite YouTubers, shows, or movies. Of course, setting time for yourself also allows for you to delve into the book that has captured your interest, as well!

3. Workout Working out can be such a stress reliever. Many people physically feel better after working out, but some people simply feel better about themselves after a sweat session. Exercising can help you clear your mind and burn calories, so this is definitely an option to consider.

4. Clean Up If you’re busy, cleaning up may not be a priority. However, after a cleaning session, you will enjoy your more and feel more accomplished.

5. Treat Yourself If a sweet treat, your favorite meal, or a new addition to your closet makes your day a little bit better, then go ahead and give in! If you would prefer to save money, instead, then the above options may be best for you! Either way, we all need to treat ourselves every once in a while.

My name is Kristal and I am currently a senior at UAB. As a business major and hopeful journalist, I hope to use my gifts and knowledge to reach across the world. I have interests in all things related to society-- hisory, social justice issues, man-made societal "norms." In my spare time, I enjoy working out, watching documentaries, viewing fashion blogs and magazines, and dreaming of the possibilities of my future. Would I forget to mention the importance of "Clueless" references in my life? Ugh, as if!
