Missing the gyms?  Want to get in shape?  Promised yourself you’d sign up for the gym just before lockdown? Working out can be a great way to get a boost of energy before class or destress after finishing assignments, but between covid restrictions and busy schedules, it can be hard to find any time to exercise.  Add in the cost of home workout equipment and any hopes of exercising seem to fly out the window.  Fortunately, you can still get in shape from home for free, and we’ve compiled a list of free, apartment-friendly workout options to help!

YouTube Workouts

Thanks to the magic of Youtube, there are plenty of apartment-friendly, equipment-free exercises available for free.  From Blogilates’ Silent Death Cardio video to MadFit’s Low Impact Full Body HIIT workout video to Vicky Justiz’s Lazy Girl Full Body workout video, there’s no shortage of exercise routines you can find on Youtube.  While quite a few of these videos do recommend that you use a yoga mat, an old rug or blanket will do the trick if you can’t get your hands on one.

Follow Along with Live Workouts

Instagram accounts like Women’s Health and Fitsqr stream workouts regularly, and while some classes may require minimal equipment, the majority are equipment-free.  Hart House also runs live workouts, although you’ll need to register in advance.  By committing to a synchronous workout, you’ll know exactly when in the day you’re going to exercise, hopefully making you more likely to attend!

Go For a Walk or Jog

Okay, so this one requires leaving your home, but going for a quick walk or jog can really help clear your mind.  Of course, it’s getting colder so you’ll probably want to bundle up, but if you do brave the cold and go outside, you’ll get some fresh air in before that next assignment.
