How to: Staying Active and In-Shape In Winter

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

1) Drink plenty of water.

The recommended water intake is between 2 and 3 liters which is a little more than 9 cups. While soda and juice may be very tempting, they contain a lot of sugar.

2) Eat sweets in moderation.

They are called treats for a reason; plus that way you do not feel guilty afterwards.

3) Fried foods are not your friend.

Self-explanatory.

4) Take the stairs.

Instead of your normal flow, do two at a time.

5) Do what you already do at parties, dance!

Dance your a** off. But if you do go to a party skip the beer, beer is full of carbs.

6) Find gym inspiration.

It doesn’t have to be a picture of a supermodel but reasons why you want to be fit.

7) Get a gym partner!

Having someone who is depending on you makes it a lot harder to slack off.

8) Don’t like the treadmill?

Join a zumba class or spin class. Make exercising fun.

9) Results do not happen overnight.

It takes time and dedication. Just have a little faith.
