The Jar is Twisted Too Tight: a Poem

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SLU chapter.

The jar is twisted too tight

My head was feeling heavy

Am I sad?

Am I stressed?

Or is this just a regular headache?

Either way the jar feels like it was twisted on too tight.

I wish I knew how to get my head to stop feeling this way.

Do I just sit and wait?

No.

A jar doesn’t loosen by not doing anything to it.

Should I just cry it out?

Maybe, but running hot water over the lid might hurt my hands more than loosen the jar.

Should I just bury myself in my blanket and sleep it off?

Eh, using a hand towel on the jar lid might get the proper grip.

Should I see a friend and talk about it?

It’s always good when someone with better grip is around, to help open the jar for you.

So many ways to loosen the jar lid that’s twisted a bit too tight.

Just like the many ways to lessen the weight in my head.

I never know which one of the ways will finally work for each occasion.

It’s just trial and error.

For both the jar;

And my head.

Sometimes, my head just feels like a jar that’s twisted too tight.
