For those of us that are in school, we are no strangers to this feeling of being overwhelmed. It feels like you are going to suffocate at any moment, and that there is just nothing you can do to make it go away. Anxiety is something that everyone struggles with, especially college students.

Anxiety is pretty much just a feeling of uneasiness or even fear, Believe me, everyone feels anxious at some point in their life, but if you are anything like me, it can go on for a long time. I have heard that there is apparently a form of good anxiety, like feeling anxious before an exam can make you more alert and improve your performance. But, when you begin to get too much anxiety, it really does become a problem to both your physical and mental well-being.

There are several symptoms that you should be on the lookout for:

  • being extra alert
  • being irritable
  • feeling on edge and not being able to relax
  • having difficulty sleeping
  • not being able to concentrate
  • having a constant feeling of uneasiness, fear, or worry.

Additionally, anxiety can always be itself a symptom of another condition, such as panic disorder or PTSD.

Always remember that a little anxiety is okay, but long-term anxiety can lead to some serious health problem later in life. You could even be at risk to develop infections much easier as compared to someone who does not suffer from anxiety.

There are plenty of treatments out there for those that suffer through anxiety. Do go and talk with a doctor to try and figure out the best plan for you because there is no need to suffer on your own.
