Fitness Friday: Week of 4/17

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Hofstra chapter.

Cheers to the freakin’ weekend! Happy Friday everybody, I hope you all had an awesome week (I can almost taste summer with this beautiful weather). Let’s jump into my week in fitness!

Me this week in an Ivory Ella longsleeve and Nike Pro cropped leggings

My Workouts by Day:

DAY 1: 1 hr cardio (running, dynamics), 10 min stretch

DAY 2: 25 min yoga, 10 min stretch, 5 min abs

DAY 3: 10 min run, 10 min stretch, 10 min abs

Workout Protip of the Week:

Stretch it out this week with my stretching protips! Stretching is amazing for warming up muscles, and cooling them down. However, stretching can become dangerous if you are not careful and aware of how you are stretching your body. Working on flexibility and taking care of your muscles and joints are critical parts of any exercise routine.

If you are not naturally flexible and are just beginning to venture out into stretching, the most important thing to keep in mind is to start off slow. Forcing your muscles to hit certain positions and poses while stretching can cause serious injuries, so remember to ease into everything. Flexibility is gradual, it takes time. The second most important thing to keep in mind is to breathe deeply while stretching. You are trying to open up your body and loosen it, so don’t hold your breath. Breathing deeply will help move you further into your stretches, and the oxygen that is sent to your muscles will help to further loosen them.

Gym Must-Have of the Week:

FabFitFun

FabFitFun is a seasonal subscription box that comes with beauty products, workout gear, makeup, snacks, and the like. It costs $49.99 per box which comes out winter, spring, summer, and fall (beauty YouTubers and Instagrammers usually have discount codes!). The box can value up to hundreds of dollars, so you really get the best bang for your buck. I have been wanting to try a box for a while!

Healthy Treat of the Week:

Acai Bowls

Acai bowls have been a favorite of mine for quite some time now. There are so many delicious and healthy toppings you can get on top and a lot of different flavors you can try out, depending on where you get your bowls! My favorite place is Long Island Super Bowls in Sayville. These picture-perfect snacks are a great source of vitamins and are a good energy booster.

There you have it! I wish you all a happy weekend, and don’t forget to love yourself!
