So the semester is almost over, finals are almost here…group projects, exams, presentations, and papers are filling our last weeks of school. Students are stressed out, which is understandable, as we have been going at what feels like lightning speed to finish last minute assignments and work. Our college experience is not what we thought it would be, our social life is not what it used to be, and our normal breaks we that used to look forwarded to are filled with work. Here at Bryant, our Saturdays were filled with classes and assignments due, and, on top of that, we are always so stress to do well in our classes that the upcoming assignments never seem to come to an end. Students are stressed with trying to learn in a hybrid mode, while doing well in their classes as normal. We all are overwhelmed with getting a good grade in our classes and looking towards future internships and careers that it can be all so stressful.

At Her Campus, we get it. We understand how you are feeling and know how overwhelmed so many of you must be. Your brain is so focused on doing well in your classes, and all of the added stress and anxiety that surrounds our health and safety that you probably have not had an opportunity to ask yourself how you are doing.

Honestly, sit for a moment and ask yourself how are you truly doing. Are you stressed? If so, you’re not alone. Take a moment to take a deep breath and let it go. Number one thing is you can do this and you will do well. Try to think about what makes you happy or how you can fit in time to do something for yourself that can help you destress. For some of you that might be going to the gym, going for a run, going for a walk, going for a hike or just sitting outside with your friends. Other ways to destress include doing a face mask or listening to some feel good music. Let yourself unwind and decompress from the hecticness of your classes and all that added stress. Think about all that time you will have once you get home for break to unwind and decompress. You will finally get to enjoy the holiday season without worrying about your finals or class work. You can watch all the Christmas movies you want to and really just enjoy the holidays!

Remember to also check up on your friends too! If you are feeling stressed out or mentally checked out, chances are they are have similar feelings. Everyone is experiencing this together and just asking them how they are doing can make all the difference. Having someone there for you that understands what you are going through always helps! Maybe both of you find that going to the gym together helps you destress and stay healthy both mentally and physically! Another simple way is to find those things you both enjoy destressing, maybe grabbing that cup of coffee together – whether hot or iced!

At the end of the day, make sure you are checking up on each other and yourself! Your school work is important, of course, but finding time for yourself is equally as important! You got this!
