Workout Class of the Week: Yoga & Tone

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brown chapter.

We all know how easy it is to fall into a workout rut, but have no fear: I have the perfect antidote! Infused with vinyasa yoga and core-engaging exercises, this class works your body in ways a Keeney treadmill just won’t. Bring some friends and hit up the Nelson Fitness Center for Kim’s Yoga & Tone class from 4-4:50pm every Wednesday.

If you are a somewhat experienced yogi looking for a way to challenge your muscles, this yoga class is perfect for you. Vinyasa yoga is an invigorating, fast-paced practice that engages the body in similar ways to that of a cardio workout. The gradual incorporation of weights into many of the traditional poses, hence the word tone, left me ~feeling the burn~ in the best way possible. We concluded the class in corpse-pose, which was a glorious five-minute period of ultimate relaxation. According to Kim, falling asleep is not only normal but encouraged!

Overall, this class was a fantastic escape from the daily routine of class and work. I left the yoga class feeling more relaxed, rejuvenated and a bit sore. Stay tuned for more workout class reviews in the coming weeks!
