The other day my roommate asked me if I wanted to go to a yoga class with her and I agreed to going. I figured I would switch up my daily routine and make it interesting.

Being active doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym every single day. You can do other things, such as going to a yoga class. Most campuses offer some sort of yoga class whether it’s taken for credits, or just for fun. This is a great way to stay active while spicing up your daily fitness routine.

Yoga has so many benefits that are both physical and mental. I read this great article by the American Osteopathic Association on everything yoga can do for you. Not only will you lose weight, but also you can increase so many things like flexibility, energy, and athletic performance. And mentally, it’s great for relieving stress. Come midterms and finals, or even if you’re just having a hard week, I highly recommend taking a yoga class.

Meal of the Week: Chicken Parm. Being Italian, I love carbs and a great home cooked meal. Last week I had this insane craving for Chicken Parmesan, but didn’t want all the carbs and calories that came along with it, so I changed up my typical recipe a little bit. Not only did it taste amazing, but it wasn’t so bad nutritionally. Instead of frying the chicken, I baked it, and for a side had whole-wheat pasta.

Eating healthy doesn’t always mean sacrificing all the foods you love, and make sure to check out your schools yoga classes!

Until next week, stay healthy collegiates!
