Lose the Freshman 15: Run for Boston

One of the pioneers of women’s marathonining, Katharine Switzer, once quoted, “If you are losing faith in human nature, go out and watch a marathon.”   Unfortunately, yesterday’s events left the world wondering if we could have any hope in human nature.

Once again, in the time of a tragedy, so many heroes helped all the victims of the bombing, even after running a full marathon.   Like many others, I was so saddened that at a marathon, where people come together to raise money for charities, reach personal goals, and celebrate a lifetime dedication to fitness, that someone could ruin the lives of so many.

Tragic events like these put my own problems in perspective, and I am so blessed and thankful for everything that I have – most importantly my family, friends, and the health of all my loved ones.  In dedication to all those who were affected by the bombing yesterday, join me in running (or walking) 3 miles for each person who lost their life yesterday.  Take these three miles to send positive thoughts and prayers to the families, think of all your blessings, and be thankful that you have strong and powerful legs that enable you to run.

Let me know how your run goes – I am so thankful to share this journey of health with you & I appreciate all your support!  It makes me feel so lucky to be able to better my life with SELF’s Drop 10 and Her Campus.  It isn’t too late for you to change your life either, you can still sign up with me here!

Thank you for all the support! Make sure to tell your loved ones how much you care for them <3.

xo,

Hayley
