Lose the Freshman 15: The Only Morning Smoothies You Will Ever Need

Hello collegiettes! I hope everyone is having a great Friday. So, I was in the kitchen this morning, feeling a bit creative, and thought about how I can have more of my Zico Coconut Water without drinking it plain. The obvious solution to my dilemma: making a unique smoothie.

The only restrictions I had were that it had to have coconut water in it, the ingredients had to be found in my fridge, and I wanted to incorporate protein so that it would hold me over until lunch. In the end I came up with 2 very satisfying concoctions (because I couldn’t make up my mind), and thought I’d share the recipes with all of you!

  1. Tropical Energy Smoothie
    Ingredients
    – 1 cup of ice
    – 1 cup of Zico coconut water
    – ½ cup of orange juice
    – 1 banana, chopped
    – 1 Mango, peeled and sliced
    – ½ cup of crushed pineapple (I got mine from a Dole can)
    Directions
    – Add the ice, coconut water, and orange juice in a blender. Put on “Pulse” for about 1-2 minutes, or until you think ice is no longer in cubes. Add remaining ingredients, and click “Blend” for 3 minutes, or until it has reached your desired consistency. Lastly, pour in a glass and imagine you’re in the Caribbean! I imagine if you’re 21+ you could add some Malibu rum to it too, but that is up to you girls.
  2. Reeses Protein Smoothie
    Ingredients
    – ½ cup of Zico coconut water
    – 1 cup of cold almond milk
    – 1 serving of Greek yogurt (I used a plain Chobani w/honey)
    – ¼ cup of protein powder, your choice
    – 3 tablespoons of Peanut Butter powder (I used PB2, has 85% less cals than normal PB)
    – 3-4 tablespoons of low-fat chocolate drink mix (I used this one by Nestle)
    Directions
    – Add all ingredients to blender, “Blend” for 3 minutes or until your desired consistency. Low-fat, filled with protein, and tastes like a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup!

Unfortunately, I finished my smoothies before I realized I should have taken a picture, which was dumb of me. I’ll do better next time. Feel free to try these smoothies, and let me know how you like them! Don’t forget to keep following the Drop10 Diet, sign up for Dietbet Round 2 which ends the first week of June, and keep following my Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest. Until next time, bye guys!
