Lose the Freshman 15: How to Recover From a Diet Slip

Hello collegiettes! I officially dubbed this past weekend my birthday weekend (20! Woo hoo!) and as such I decided to celebrate by not putting effort into sticking to my diet and instead going with the usual flow of cake, cookies, and pizza that headed my way. By Sunday night, the figurative and literal weight of how much unhealthy food I ate came crashing down on me. However, today I realized that instead of feeling extremely guilty and beating myself up about it, I can change my attitude and choose to look at it in a different light. Here is how I’ve chosen to move forward from my diet-slip:

Get into a routine: Start getting enough hours of sleep if you haven’t already, incorporate exercise into your daily schedule, and eat 3 meals at the same time each day. Consistency is key to having a balanced life and feeling less scatter-brained is always a plus.

Avoid “Extremes”: Do not, under any circumstance, think to make up for a diet slip you need to under-eat and over-exercise the next day. That is not only an unhealthy mindset, but would wreak havoc on your body. Be nice to your body, it’s the only one you have.

Less processed, more raw: Yes, I had cake, cookies, and a variety of other foods that come from boxes, with highly-processed chemicals in them. From now on I made a vow to stick to fruit, vegetables, and other food without all the complicated additives.

Focus on the goals: I have Dietbet Round 2 ending in the first week of June, and the “Lose the Freshman 15” program ending at the end of May. My weight goals for both are EXTREMELY close to now, so staying motivated to reach the finish line is definitely my top priority at the moment.

If you guys have any suggestions on what you do after a diet slip, please let me know :) I’m definitely going to keep chugging my Zico water and pounding the pavement in my New Balance sneaks until the program ends. Don’t forget to keep following the Drop10 Diet, and follow me on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Until next time, bye guys!

With love,
