I Tried The New Rhode Glazing Milk & Y’all…

I’m going to be pretty honest with you right now — my skin has been an absolute mess. Now, I’m not saying that I’ve been known for my perfect skin, but after long, sleepless nights and attending more concerts than I’d care to admit (my wallet hurts just thinking about it), my skin has been particularly angry at me recently. So, when rhode sent me a new skincare product, I leaped at the opportunity to try it out.

On June 7, Hailey Bieber’s skincare brand, rhode, announced the launch of their new Glazing Milk ($29) — a moisturizing essence packed with skin-calming (and hydrating) nutrients. Formulated with ceramides, hyaluronic acid, zinc, copper, and beta-glucan, this essence claims to “boost barrier function and provide immediate, luminous hydration.” And judging by the condition my skin is in, it sounds like something I definitely need: it’s glowy girl summer, and I want to look like one of those perfect little shiny donuts.

Now, I’m a big believer in skin neutrality: there is no such thing as “good” skin or “bad” skin — our skin textures are all unique, and there is simply no way to achieve “perfect skin.” However, I am a believer in healthy skin: Our skin is our body’s largest organ, and, like all of our vital organs, it’s essential to take care of it. Cleansing, exfoliating, using a daily SPF, and having a skincare routine are all important steps to keeping your skin healthy from the inside out.

I’m someone who has struggled with acne for years. Additionally, I’m prone to oily skin, blackheads, and a good amount of hormonal/stress acne. Despite this, my skin often becomes dry in my T-zone, especially when I slip on doing my skincare routine every night (look, we’re not all perfect, here). Having moisturized skin is essential for me in the warmer months, when the East Coast humidity and city air are known to cause problem areas. All of this to say, my skin could use some help this summer.

While you’re able to join the pre-order list for rhode’s newest product now , the official drop date isn’t until June 15. The Glazing Milk is also the first permanent rhode product since the brand first launched with the original three products, so it’s not going away anytime soon. rhode was kind enough to send me an advanced sample of the new Glazing Milk to try, so I could tell you if it’s worth signing up early. So, without further ado, here’s what you need to know.

How to use the rhode Glazing Milk.

If you’ve never used an essence before, you’re not alone: I virtually had no clue what it was before receiving the product. Apparently, an essence is a water-based product that contains a high content of ingredients to hydrate, protect, and promote the overall health of your skin.

First, I cleansed using my CeraVe SA Foaming Cleanser before using my toner from The Ordinary. After that, it was time to try out the Glazing Milk. Bieber recommends shaking well before use, and whatever she says, goes. So, after a good ol’ shake, I was ready to try out the product for myself.

The consistency was — unsurprisingly — milky, but very smooth. Applying it with my hands, it felt extremely calming on my problem spots on my cheeks and forehead. I wouldn’t say that a little goes a long way (or maybe I just have a giant face), but I will say that you don’t need a ton of product to hit every area of your skin and neck. For me, just one quick squeeze was all I needed.

Kind of like magic, it absorbed into my skin easily. Almost instantly, my skin felt soft and moisturized without feeling tacky or slimy, which is a huge win in my book. I continued my routine, which consists of mainly non-rhode products (except for the viral Peptide Lip Treatment), and am happy to say that it mixed well with my serums, treatments, and moisturizer.

After my skincare routine, my skin looked incredibly dewy and glowy — almost like a glazed donut, which I am surely not mad about.

Is the rhode Glazing Milk worth it?

All in all, I was a huge fan of the rhode Glazing Milk! As someone who needs extra hydration, I found this product to be a great way to introduce more ceramides into my routine, along with protecting my skin from pollution and harsh weather.

While I still have some residual acne, my problem spots have definitely mellowed out. Sure, it could be because I finally got a good amount of sleep last night, but we could also attribute that to the Glazing Milk. Regardless, the Glazing Milk has definitely earned a spot in my skincare regimen… because who doesn’t want to look like a shiny little donut?
