3 Skincare Products to Add to Your Summer Self-Care Routine

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

It’s officially summer, and the mood for the season is self-care. After a long, cold winter and a hectic spring semester, it’s time to focus on taking care of your body and make time for yourself before you start your internship, your job for the summer, or a new season in your life.

One important aspect of self-care for me is ensuring that my skin looks (and feels!) amazing. And, as the temperature rises, it’s essential to keep your skin soft, supple, and protected — especially if your skin is going to be exposed to chlorine, sun, and saltwater, which can take a toll on your skin.

No matter what your plans are this summer, these skincare products will help you embrace the season of self-care! Trust me – your skin will thank you.

Sunscreen with SPF 30+

Sunscreen is a major must-have for all seasons, but especially for the summer. If you have melanated skin like me, a sunscreen with SPF over 30 will do wonders for protecting your skin against the sun’s rays. When picking a product, a sunscreen with a sheer formula is essential to having glowy skin without a white cast. I like to apply sunscreen last in my skincare routine and at least thirty minutes before I have to go outside. I also reapply sunscreen every two hours so I know that my skin has continued protection from the sun. If you’re wearing makeup, I recommend investing in a spray sunscreen that you can reapply without messing up your makeup!

Vitamin C Serum

Serums are game-changing in skincare, and a Vitamin C serum is perfect for the summer. Vitamin C moisturizes your skin, treats fine lines and wrinkles, and supports the production of collagen — which helps your skin appear more supple and vibrant. And who doesn’t want to look more vibrant this season? A major plus is that Vitamin C serum works on most skin types, so if you’re acne-prone like me, you don’t have to worry about it causing any skincare concerns. Pair a Vitamin C serum with sunscreen to achieve a lightweight finish that brightens, hydrates, and moisturizes your skin.

Hyaluronic Acid

During the summer months, hyaluronic acid is going to be your bestie. If you’ve never heard of hyaluronic acid, think hydration, because that’s what this product will do for you. What’s amazing about it is that you can add it to more than just your skin — some lip glosses have hyaluronic acid, too, which gives your lips a shiny and hydrated glow. A major plus is that hyaluronic acid also helps even out the skin’s texture, along with providing long-lasting hydration during those packed summer days.
