7 ‘Schitt’s Creek’-Inspired Wardrobe Staples to Channel Your Inner Alexis Rose

If you’re anything like me, you spend just about as much time per episode of Schitt’s Creek  laughing at David’s hilarious sass as you do frantically Googling Alexis’ wardrobe (I’m still trying to hunt down a Dolce & Gabbana dress she wore in season one on eBay). From floral mini dresses galore to the best jewelry collection you’ve ever seen, Alexis Rose is the human embodiment of that covetable effortless, boho-chic look. Fashion lovers, take note.

As in any great show, the clothes of Schitt’s Creek tell a story of the Roses’ former life. While she’s dining at Cafe Tropical or popping in to Rose Apothecary, Alexis’ outfits look better suited for Coachella or gallivanting around the Hamptons — and I’m 100 percent here for it. Alexis doesn’t care if her clothes don’t fit in with the norm of those in Schitt’s Creek; she embraces her individuality and expresses herself through her style. Rather than save her clothes for a special occasion, Alexis makes everyday life a special occasion and dresses in what makes her happy. I think we should all take a lesson from Alexis. Keep reading for my style guide on how to channel your inner Alexis Rose.

Make a statement in a boho mini

Alexis has a seemingly endless supply of mini dresses tucked away in her motel closet. Florals, sequins, bell sleeves; she's got it all. To instantly get the look, throw on a breezy, patterned mini dress. I’m loving this one from Free People at the moment.

Pile on the jewelry

No Alexis Rose outfit is complete without an array of gorgeous jewelry. Don’t be afraid to go all out and pile on the necklaces, earrings, and maybe even a dainty jeweled headband for a festival chic vibe. Don’t forget her signature initial necklace

Play with texture

Velvet, metallic, and lace make regular appearances in Alexis’ OOTDs. Up the glam factor of your everyday wardrobe by incorporating some of these luxe textures. You can never go wrong with a velvet mini dress for the holidays.

Rock an off-the-shoulder moment

I’m pretty sure Alexis invented the off-the-shoulder trend. This silhouette is just flirty enough without showing too much skin — perfect for visiting Ted at the vet. Look for off-the-shoulder dresses, rompers, and tops for an easy way to add a boho feel to your look.

Perfect beachy waves

Does Alexis ever have a bad hair day? As if I wasn’t jealous enough of Alexis’ wardrobe, she also has amazing hair. Seriously, the girl always looks like she just stepped out of the salon. Get her effortless beachy waves at home with a curling iron like this one from The Beachwaver.

Booties are a must-have

Alexis is more often than not spotted in a pair of chic ankle booties. These boots are not only comfortable enough for everyday wear, but they also elongate the legs. This shoe staple pairs particularly well with all of her floaty mini dresses and skirts, but also works with a pair of jean shorts for something more casual.

If you liked it, then you should've put a hat on it

Hats are to Alexis as wigs are to Moira. A glamorous hat is the perfect finishing touch to add a more fashion-y feel to an outfit. Alexis has been spotted in everything from a feather embellished felt hat to a summery straw fedora. Pick a hat that matches your vibe and the “what a cute outfit!” compliments will come rolling in.

Alexis Rose is the fashion icon we never knew we needed. Her boho glam style is perfect for those days you want your look to feel a little more special. BRB while I go make my closet a little bit Alexis.
