Keep Calm and Namaste

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Western chapter.

I began practicing yoga in second year by going to community classes with friends, but I truly fell in love with yoga several months ago after going to Moksha Yoga. I have always been an active individual who enjoys working out, but yoga challenges me in a different way than weight training or spin class. Yoga challenges me both physically and mentally because it forces me to enjoy being in the present, which is something that we often forget to do amidst our busy lives. It reminds me of the importance of breathing and the wonders that a few deep breaths can do. In the morning, yoga gives me the energy to embrace any challenges that are in store for me. At night, it makes my mind feel at ease and ends my day off on a positive note. Yoga makes me feel powerful, it has shown me that I can do anything as every time I get stronger and stronger.

Moksha Yoga in downtown London is where I began my journey, and it is my favourite place to practice yoga. Moksha Yoga offers a serene, clean and welcoming environment that is unparalleled. The moment I walk through the door, I feel like I am a part of a special community. It is a community where everyone from the guests to the instructors, are kind, friendly and respectful. Every instructor lets their own unique personality shine throughout practice and brings something positively different to the table. The instructors are all friendly, encouraging and genuinely want to see you improve. They provide an environment that is free of judgement, where you are encouraged to fall out of pose and listen to your body to find what suits you best. Moksha Yoga is where I found my love for yoga.

Yoga is a never-ending path of self-discovery, and it has taught me that being in tune with yourself and enjoying the present moment is fundamental to living a happy, well-balanced life.

It is just me, my mat and I.
