Campus Celebrity Maya Bramletta ’16

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Valdosta chapter.

Maybe you’ve taken her Pilates class at the student rec or you recognize her as one of the senators for our SGA. If you’re not familiar with Maya, now is your chance to get to know a little bit about her as one of this week’s campus celebrities!

Name: Maya Bramletta

Major: Mass Media

Hometown: Waycross, GA

Classification: Senior

On Campus Involvement: I’m a group fitness instructor at the student recreation center and I’m a senator in SGA

HC: What made you choose Valdosta State?

Maya: Valdosta State University has the best mass media program in Georgia!

HC: What has been your most memorable year at VSU?

Maya: I’ve only been here for a year including this semester because I’m a transfer student but since I’ve been a student here, my experience here has been memorable. I’ve learned a lot about myself and had some great and not so great experiences.

HC: What do you plan to do with your major?

Maya: I want to be a sideline reporter and do some sports writing. If I have the opportunity to do entertainment reporting, I would be fine with that too.

HC: What are you passionate about?

Maya: Doing my best in all aspects of life, whether it be school or being the best version of myself, and enjoying myself through the process.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Maya: Successful and happy. Successful in my career, not necessarily rich but comfortable enough to where I don’t have to worry about not being able to take care of myself or my family. Also, I intend on having a family in 10 years, but it’s okay if I don’t. It will happen when it’s supposed to happen.

HC: Who inspires you and why?

Maya: That’s hard to answer. I’m not inspired to be anybody else besides myself. Of course, I have people that I admire and respect what they do but I want to be successful being myself. I have constant support from family and friends, which helps me to stay motivated.

HC: How would you like to be remembered when you leave VSU?

Maya: I’m not too sure how I want to be remembered. Hopefully, in a positive light. I feel like I haven’t been here long enough to make my mark, so to speak.
