My new addiction this week is spin class. Although I have only been to two classes, I am obsessed. This is a great way to prevent that freshman fifteen or just stay in shape! It’s an intense cardio and full body workout but it’s nothing to be intimidated by! With the music, lights, and encouraging trainers, you totally forget you’re burning 600+ calories!!

  • It’s a Workout:

Of course, this point is straightforward but you’re there for a full hour! You are getting a workout to help both your body and mind stay healthy! I don’t know about you, but it is sometimes difficult for me to drag myself to the gym and make myself stay for longer than 30 minutes. The instructor is constantly challenging you to increase gears to hit the hills and increase RPMs to feel the burn!

  • The Time:

We are working our bodies and minds for a full hour. This may sound like a long time to some people; however, that time FLIES by. You’re constantly changing how hard you’re working to the beat of the music. There is little time to think about how tired you actually are.

  • Music and Lights:

There is A LOT of sweat happening during this hour. The lights being off is one of my favorite things. No one can see how much you’re actually sweating or how tired you look by your face. Not only are there colored lights flashing all over the room, but there’s also loud music pumping up the mood. The good part: no one hears your heavy breathing.

NO NEED FOR EMBARRASSMENT

  • Stress Relief:

I find myself more of a night owl than an early bird. Which is perfectly fine, because whether you jumpstart your day with spin at 6 am or end your day spinning at 6 pm, there’s a time for you. I find myself debriefing everything that’s going on in my life and relax. I stop thinking about everything that’s frustrating me and take it all out on the bike.

  • Judgement Free Zone:

Everyone is focusing more on themselves rather than the people around them. All the people on bikes around you are working for their own sake. We all share one goal together: to get something out of the workout. We are in our own zones working on ourselves. It’s respected in the environment, it’s carefree.
