As a college student, it gets easy to push aside “me time” for extra clubs, extra classes, or whatever.  We have an hour break on Wednesday afternoons, and we think, “Sure, I can do a kickboxing class.”

While that thinking is great for some time, you eventually burn out.  While it is important to be motivated, it is also important to take some time for yourself.  Mental health is one of the most important aspects of your life. It does not matter if you have a 4.0 if you are not happy.

Work hard, but acknowledge that it is okay to pull out a couple extra thousand on your student loan if it means you can work less and focus more. Exercise, but do it to gain health and confidence, not to fall down the rabbit hole of overwhelming fitness routines. Study, but also make sure that you have time to hang out with friends.

It has taken me a long time to figure this out, and I still struggle to allow myself to sit and rest. If you are like me, just taking an extra hour or two each week to do something you enjoy can make all the difference.
