Fitness with Finesse: 6 Signs You’re a Wannabe Health Nut

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UFL chapter.

We all have a little inner health freak, but for most of us, it’s hidden deep, deep down inside us. It’s hard to really be one of the lucky few who are true health nuts, but some of us are on the way. Or at least we started the journey…and then got a little side-tracked.

1. You have a blender and a lot of frozen fruit…… that you never got around to using. There was that one time you got up early and made a smoothie for breakfast, but now your blender sits in the corner of your cupboard, shaming you every time you see it.

2. Your Pinterest is filled with workout routines…… that you’ve never tried. Those nights when you’re on Pinterest reading inspirational quotes and new quick workout routines are so inspiring. But the next day, sleep is always more enticing. You can alway just start tomorrow, right?

3. You have a “healthy food” Pinterest board…… but it has three pins on it. But, hey, your “desserts” board has an impressive 207 pins on it. One day, you’ll bring yourself to make the healthy choice and ditch those cookies for a healthier snack. You can do it!

4. You made a “semester weight-loss plan…”… which ended about a week into Spring semester when your roommate brought home Publix cookies. It’s definitely all your roommate’s fault you stopped running regularly and only go to the gym once a week. It’s hard to motivate yourself to be healthy, and small bumps in the road can deter you, but you just need to keep pushing!

5. You have a closet full of cute workout clothes…… that you only wear to class and shopping, really anywhere but the gym. Those cute leggings and Nike shorts have never seen the inside of the gym, but with a little motivation, soon they will. Just think about how fabulous you’ll look on the treadmill.

6. Your phone sends you reminders to go on runs every day…… but you lost your running shoes somewhere in your closet. And besides, you’re halfway through an episode of Friends. Instead of pressing snooze on that alarm, get yourself up out of bed and moving. It’ll probably be good for you to clean out your closet anyway.

The idea of working out and getting in shape is a constant in a college girl’s life, but it’s hard to pull yourself away from Netflix and get yourself to the gym. We all go through these struggles, and sometimes just knowing we’re all in it together is enough of a motivator. Get a group of friends together to go to the gym regularly, and these signs will be soon be a thing of the past.
