It’s the beginning of a new year, and many of you have probably made some kind of resolution that involves exercising more. It can be difficult to stay driven, but one way to motivate yourself to get out and exercise is by dressing the part. And after all, don’t they say you need to dress to impress? (In this case, you’re trying to impress yourself, but you know what I mean.) Hopefully the outfit ideas below will help you feel great while exercising and drive you to keep your eyes on achieving your fitness goals!

1. Add some color and prints.

Liven up your workout with bright colors and prints! Even if you don’t feel cute, at least your outfit will be!

2. Focus on the details.

Add details like a strappy sports bra to an open back sweater to change up your gym style in a subtle way. Bonus: You’ll feel super breezy after breaking a sweat!

3. Wear motivational gear.

What could get you more motivated than wearing an inspiring slogan? And while you’re at it, throw on some fun statement glasses for good measure.

4. Go boho.

Toss on some tie-dye, sling on a crochet bag, and toss on a pair of sunglasses to feel wild and free and prepared to exercise.

5. Rock your favorite band tee.

After a productive day at the gym, toss on your favorite band tee, throw on some Chucks, and swipe on a red lip to leave the gym in style.

6. Go grunge.

If neons and brights aren’t really your thing, try a distressed muscle tee and a cool patterned pair of bottoms.

7. Sport a statement jacket.

Keep warm by donning a statement jacket that’ll be the focal point of your look. Additional tip: Hide sweaty/greasy gym hair by pulling it back into a sleek, center-parted ponytail.

Hi, Collegiettes! I'm Carmen, a Communication major at University of California, Santa Barbara and one of two Campus Correspondents for UCSB. I would love to one day work in either fashion, food, tech, financial services or philanthropy. My dream is to find a job that somehow combines several of those elements. Until I get there, I'll be munching on copious amounts of Trader Joe's dried mango, jamming out to my man, Frank Sinatra, and focusing on creating intriguing content! If you like my writing, talk to me. ;)
