I’ve Been Making Smoothies Everyday And It’s Changing My Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at UCLA chapter.

My recent Christmas present of a nutribullet blender (which I totally recommend) has completely changed up my morning routines. Almost every morning since then, I have gotten up and made myself a smoothie for breakfast, and it has been doing wonders for me.

Drinking a smoothie is objectively one of the best things ever. They are so refreshing, and something about them just makes me think of the beach or a tropical vacation, which is the best thing when you’re missing summer (which I definitely am).

They’re also so fun to make (and buy), and there is such a variety that you can literally never get bored of them. From the infamous Erewhon smoothies (which are actually kind of delicious, even though they are $18) to a classic strawberry banana concoction, there are endless possibilities. And I have been enjoying trying as many as possible!

Some of my recent favorites have been a coffee protein smoothie, a greens smoothie, and a mango orange smoothie. I love to browse Pinterest and find recipes to inspire myself!

I literally wake up every single morning excited to drink my morning smoothie. My typical routine is that I make it while listening to my favorite morning hype songs, and then I sit down on my couch and watch an episode of whatever TV show I’m loving at the moment (it’s currently the Big Bang Theory) while drinking my lovely beverage. Nothing can top the feeling of drinking a smoothie from a cute little cup and straw. It is honestly unmatched, and I never want to lose this habit.

Part of the reason I have been loving this routine so much is because its sole purpose is to take care of myself, and spend more time doing the things that make me happy. When I make something for myself in the morning that takes thought and energy, I feel more important to myself, like I am making myself a priority. Being college students, we all tend to lead extremely busy lives. But when I incorporate a smoothie into my morning, I can kind of forget about that for a little while and just embrace the peace of self care.

It also makes me feel so healthy, which is another big thing that can get lost in the daily hustle and bustle. I can load my smoothie up with fruit, veggies, greek yogurt, and protein powder, and it’ll taste absolutely delicious, but also be super good for me. And for all my gym girlies, this can be a really easy way to get more protein in! Also, the mood booster that comes with eating something super healthy is so real, and having this bright and early can put such a positive spin on your day (it definitely does for me!).

Overall, the most important thing is just to find a habit that makes you feel good, healthy, and happy. No matter what is is, I hope that it brings you all of these things and more. And go get a smoothie! I promise that you will be in a better mood after it.
