Why You Need to Try Drop-in Fitness at Hart House

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Toronto chapter.

Keeping active during the school year can be a struggle, but Hart House offers a wide range of exercise classes that work for everyone. Committing to just one or two classes a week truly does have its benefits, and I would absolutely recommend trying a few out! Here are a few of the classes I’ve been to and what to expect.

Core BT

Squats, lunges, and weights are the name of the game for this one! It is definitely intense at times, but you can go at your own pace and do things at the level you’re comfortable with. At the end of the class, you’ll know that you just had a great workout.

Zumba

This one is great for everyone. Cardio, movement, and dance, all to the beat. You wouldn’t even realize the amount of cardio you’re actually getting in; the class is just a great experience overall!

Flexibility Fusion

Stretching and relaxation are key to this class. You’ll walk out of it feeling completely refreshed and you might even forget about all those assignments you have to do… at least for a little while.

Pound

This is a new one, and it involves drumsticks and a mat— who knew? Get out all of those frustrations and drum to the beat! The class involves on the spot movement, so it’s not super heavy in intensity. This one is probably the most unique class I’ve been to, so all in all, I’d definitely give this one a try.

Why You Should Give It a Try

From my experience, every one of these classes has been great. The instructors cater to the needs of individual fitness levels, and there is a wide range of classes offered. Even better, they are all free for U of T students! So even if you are just starting out, or working on getting back into that healthy routine, there really is something for everyone. The current drop-in schedule can be found here

Even if you think you don’t have time for it, it really is worth it to take a break every now and then. After all, why not get out and enjoy this beautiful campus and get your workout in while you do it?
