6 Reasons Why You Should Take a Zumba Class This Week

Zumba has been a popular form of exercise for a while now, as it deserves to be. We all know that group fitness classes are fun, but Zumba will always hold a special place in my heart due to its fun and accepting atmosphere, challenging workout regimen, and the pure enjoyment people get out of it. There are many different forms of this workout craze, such as aquatic or strength-training Zumba (which incorporates weights for extra intensity), but no matter the class, here is why you should break your routine and give one a try this week:

1. There is a class for people of all levels.

Zumba is great for beginners because some of the classes aren’t too difficult compared to spinning or another form of intense cardio. If you’re having trouble keeping up or you think it’s too easy, you can very simply modify the routine to fit your needs.

2. It feels more like a dance party than a workout class.

Working out can be a drag, but time seems to fly when you’re dancing to your favorite songs for an hour. Afterwards, you’ll feel refreshed and accomplished instead of tired and in need of a pick-me-up.

3. It targets many parts of your body and burns mad calories.

Your core, legs, and glutes will all get an amazing workout after an hour of dancing away. You will even increase your flexibility, muscle strength, and burn an average of 369 calories per minute (which is more than the typical step aerobic or cardio kickboxing class).

4. There is no equipment or previous experience required.

You need no previous dance experience to go, because the moves are easy to follow. On top of that, no one cares if you’re a bad dancer because everyone is just there to workout and have fun!

5. You can do it at home or in a class.

If you don’t feel comfortable or don’t have time to take an actual class (although I recommend this option more), you can always purchase a DVD or look up Zumba videos online to do in your room. Just be careful and don’t hurt yourself!

6. You’ll feel like a dancing queen and have such a fun time.

Above all, Zumba is supposed to be fun! Everyone has an inner dancer inside: let yours become unleashed and don’t hold back.
