Reading week is right around the corner, and midterms are following right behind. What better way to use that as an excuse to take the time to travel and de-stress? As students, it seems like our days just never end. I, myself, find myself beginning my day just after sunrise and coming home an hour or two before midnight. As insane as that may be, that’s our reality.

However, that doesn’t mean that you trudge along without a break. Why not use reading week as an excuse to spend your money you saved up from the summer and plan a getaway?Whether you travel to a different city, or the other side of the world, the benefits of travelling are endless, especially after a stressful or busy time during your life.Travelling gives you a fresh, new perspective on your situation. It allows you to leave behind your life for a short period of time, and jump into something new. You get the chance to experience life through different eyes and pushes you to get out of your comfort zone.

Seeing and experiencing the same thing day after day can make one anxious and stressed. But traveling allows for a change of scenery which can help relive that anxiety. Not to mention having the chance to experience a new culture and meet new people.Your passport can be the best textbook. Take that leap and allow yourself to escape your routine. Whether that’s for a few days or a few weeks. Trust me, your mind, body and soul will thank you.
