Cable knit sweaters, peppermint mochas, chunky scarves, frosty lawns …yep, it’s that time of year! Welcome to the season of using the increasingly cold weather as an excuse for just about EVERYTHING. You’re probably not alone if you’ve laid in bed an extra fifteen minutes because your XL twin bed just miraculously feels like the only place in world you want to be. Or perhaps you’ve grabbed a warm cookie or two on the way out of Eick…even though you already had dessert. And you’re definitely not the only one who’s pulled the “it’s too cold to walk to the gym!” Unfortunately, the flurry of time-consuming term papers and end-of-semester projects combined with the less-than-inviting outdoor temperatures make for a lethal combination when it comes to exercise regime.

Fear not! While it may seem close to impossible to gather the will power to step out of your cozy bed, you don’t have to go much farther than your dorm room rug to get in a nice workout, and it’s guaranteed you’ll still have time to fit in your term paper, project, and you’ll STILL have time to enjoy a guilt-free cookie from Eick!

Youtube is a great resource for guided workout videos, and you can even pick and choose  what muscle groups you want to target. The beauty of using Youtubevideos  is that because the trainer needs to stay in frame, he or she most likely will not be using a lot of space! And, because Youtube vids are generally 7-15 minutes in length, you won’t be stuck with one giant, intimidating, workout. Instead, you can put together your own plan! Here are some great channels to get you started:

If you’re looking for some great core-strengthening exercises with an upbeat instructor, be sure to check you Cassy Ho at http://www.youtube.com/user/BlogilatesTV.

Mike Chang employs a variety of core, chest, arm, and leg exercises in variety of short videos to give you a great range for different workouts at http://www.youtube.com/user/sixpackshortcuts

Check out Sarah Dussault’s channel if you’re interested in incorporating various body workouts with more tips on lifestyle choices to accompany your workouts!

And of course, one of the classics, be sure to try any variation of the iconic 8-minute workouts at http://www.youtube.com/user/8Minute

Good luck!
