As we begin spring semester, the change in routine from a leisurely winter break to a more stringent schedule might challenge your new year’s resolutions.  With homework, sports, and spending time with friends, squeezing in that new habit might be difficult to do. According to NBC news the some of the top resolutions are always exercise more, dieting, and watching spending. We complied a list of ways you can remain faithful to your resolution while back at Rhodes.

Move More

Signing up for a P.E. class to fulfill your F12 requirement is an easy way to commit to working out. A variety of classes such as yoga, weight training, are offered multiple times a week for 9 weeks.

Exercise on your own time in the good ole BCLC Monday-Thursday 6:30am to 11pm, Friday 6:30am to 10pm, Saturday 10am to 10pm, and Sunday 1pm to 11pm.

If you prefer the outdoors over the treadmill, the route around the perimeter of campus is exactly 1.78 miles. Run, walk, or skip during the daytime since some places on the route are not lit after dark. Also Overton park is literally right next door. Bonus: the trails are scenic and paved. Definitely stop by the dog park during your visit.

For added inspiration, invest in some comfy, cute workout clothes.

Eat Healthier

For a change in pace from typical meal plan options, try some nearby healthy options like Juice Bar Midtown, Belly Acres, Two Vegan Sistas, Cheffie’s Café, and more

Thank goodness the construction is finished. The Kroger on Union is finally open after endless months of remodeling. Besides a great selection of fresh fruits and veggies, inside there is Corky’s, Starbucks, a juice bar and a growler.

Spend Less, Save More

Student discounts are offered at many businesses- you just have to ask. Usually you can receive 5-10% off at places like Madewell, J.Crew, ASOS, Chipotle, Subway movie theatres and more.

Rhodes Exchange is the go-to place for all your clothing, accessory, and some times furniture needs. Spend next to nothing for gently used clothes from shoes to formal dresses. Plus you avoid searching multiple stores and the gas money to get you there.

Hi! I'm Nathalie Vacheron, a senior at Rhodes hailing from Germantown, Tennessee. I love to write, I love to edit, and I'm in love with the voice Her Campus gives to women across college campuses. In addition to Her Campus, I'm involved in my sorority, Tri Delta, work in the Counseling/Health Center, am a First Year mentor, and love to run when I can. I'm a Business & Commerce major concentrating in management with a minor in Psychology. I hope to go into health administration, community health, or work for a non-profit (and write a book somewhere in-between...) xoxo
