5 Romantic Valentines Day Recipes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oregon chapter.

Valentine’s Day is on the horizon, and either you are stocking up on wine and scoping out Netflix’s romantic comedy section with your girlfriends or you are getting ready for a special day with your sweet heart. Which ever road you chose to go down, baked goods are a requirement. Get out that heart-shaped cake tin and raid the grocery store, because we are going to bake our hearts out this V-day.

  1. Rose Petal Dark Chocolate Bar  Lets start this out with something a little fancy. Boys and girls, this recipe will wow that special person you are slaving away in the kitchen to please. Dark chocolate is way underrated, and it is an aphrodisiac…so get creative, you love birds.
  2. Conversation Heart Cookies These are a fun, more sophisticated spin on a childhood favorite. What I like most about this recipe is that you can get creative with what you want said on the cookies. Personalize them for all of the people you love in your life!
  3. Red Velvet Fudge Pie Red velvet is delicious for any occasion (in my humble opinion, you do not need an occasion to eat red velvet treats) but it is PERFECT for valentines day! Make a few of these pies for you and your girlfriends. Yum!
  4.  Valentine’s Day Chocolate Pretzels These are a really good idea for what to give your co-workers. You could put a bunch of these yummy treats in to a jar with some ribbon, and it becomes an instant crowd pleasing homemade gift.
  5. Red Velvet Macaroons I love the idea of a Parisian-themed Valentine’s Day party. Like I said before, you do not need a reason to eat red velvet treats, and these macaroons sound amazing.

Have fun with these recipes! You do not have to have a significant other to enjoy this day all about love. Whether it’s your lover, co-worker, best friend, or your mom, show them all how much you love them by giving them one of these sweet treats. Remember, doubling the ingredients is totally okay…whoever said less is more was not a single twentysomething on Valentine’s Day.
