Lent Fitness…You Can Do It!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Hopefully you’ve been keeping to the 1-minute fitness regime everyday and not broken Lent already… For those who have caved, shame on you (it’s jealousy talking); but for the rest, here are the next 14 to continue with:

1. Right side plank (see below)

2. Left side plank

3. Right side plank and dip – When in a side plank, move your waist towards the floor, keeping your body straight, and then back to normal side plank.

4. Left side plank and dip

5. Right side plank and rotation – as above, instead of just moving your body towards the ground, begin with your arm (not the one holding you up) in the air and once you lower yourself, scoop it around your waist.

6. Left side plank and rotation

7. High knees

8. Bum flicks

9. Sprints (do it on your street)

10. Left leg hop

11. Right leg hop

12. Tricep dips – use a sofa or the edge of your bed to hold yourself. Straighten your legs in front of you if bending them is too easy.

13. Skipping – if you don’t have an actual rope, just do the movements with legs and arms (as silly as you may look)…

14. Leg raises – lie on the floor with your legs in the air, lower them to the ground (without touching) and lift back up to work your abs.

After these 14, only 11 more to go (the break down makes it seem so much shorter) – then you can wake up knowing you can do nothing but munch through all your Easter eggs… for now, let’s get burning!

Sam is a Third Year at the University of Nottingham, England and Campus Correspondent for HC Nottingham. She is studying English and would love a career in journalism or marketing (to name two very broad industries). But for now, her favourite pastimes include nightclubs, ebay, cooking, reading, hunting down new music, watching thought-provoking films, chatting, and attempting to find a sport/workout regime that she enjoys!
