Why These Skincare Ingredients Deserve the Spotlight

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

Skincare has quickly taken the world by storm. With social media, the internet, and “same-day delivery” all at our fingertips, it is almost impossible to avoid skincare. Being said, it’s time to face it and learn about why the world of skincare is something you need to be a part of.

Hyaluronic Acid: Hydration equals healthy skin. “A quarter-teaspoon of hyaluronic acid holds about one and a half gallons of water,” according to Cleveland Clinic. Make your skin supple and elastic with implementing a hyaluronic acid serum into your skincare routine.

Sunscreen: The key to taking care of your skin is by protecting it. Think of sunscreen as similar to wearing a seatbelt. Every. Single. Time. You can use all of the skincare in the world, but if you don’t add the necessary layer of protection, all of those other ingredients and effort will be useless. The sun won’t spare you.

Niacinamide: Niacinamide is popular for teenagers and young adults for the incredible benefits it can give to the skin with consistent use. Say bye to your blemishes, as this nutrient helps with regulating oils and minimizing pores.

Retinol: This derivative of retinoid fights the battles for people of all ages. It helps treat acne, aging skin or aged skin, and it treats fine lines and wrinkles with safe and moderated use.

Using one of these products or all of them is a small part of your day to love yourself and the skin that you are in. Self care just got even better.
