It’s the beginning of Spring, which means flowers are coming back! There are a variety of flowers that bloom in the month of May that have a variety of different meanings. This is the perfect time to decorate your house or space with beautiful flowers and enjoy the beautiful weather that awaits.

Amaryllis

These South American flowers can also be known as “the Belladonna Lily” or “the Easter Lily”. They come in distinctive red, orange, pink and white shades and have been known to symbolize pride.

Peonies

These flowers are wedding favorites in the springtime. These beautiful flowers come in pink, white and even purple and they are perfect to share the true May magic.

Iris

These flowers are garden favorites and are also the birth flower of February. It takes its name from the Greek word ‘rainbow’ and they are a symbol  of wisdom and courage.

Lilacs

These flowers have a distinct sweet smell. They symbolize the essence of first love and confidence.

Magnolias

These flowers are some of the toughest flowers,  because of their ability to withstand great cold and strong heat. These flowers symbolize that spring has arrived.

Heather

Similar to magnolias, these are also tough flowers that withstand the cold and hot weather of Northern Europe. They have been used  to express admiration for someone special.

Pansies

They are known for being bright, varied and happy,  and carry a lot of positive connotations of loving thoughts and thinking freely. In the Victorian times these flowers also symbolized expressing love covertly.

Freesias

They come in a variety of shades of white, blue, pink, yellow and purple. These flowers are normally given to reflect innocence, trust and friendship.

With the arrival of the warm weather and the return of green grass, it’s a perfect time to bring back more color with some beautiful flowers. Springtime also means a lot of gatherings where you can bring these flowers as a way of showing appreciation to a loved one. Flowers aren’t just for special occasions, they can help to make any day or occasion special.
