Baking for Beginners: Fool-Proof Whipped Shortbread Recipe

I would be lying to myself if I said that I was half a decent baker. With most baking recipes, I somehow always find a way to spoil something during the process.

However, this specific shortbread recipe has never failed my error-prone self. These cookies are sure to seemingly melt in your mouth, make your kitchen smell like a cafe in Paris, and surprise you (because you won't believe you just made such amazing cookies!).

This recipe makes 60 cookies.

2 cups salted butter, softened

1 cup icing sugar

1/2 cup cornstarch

1 tsp vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour

- preheat the oven to 325 F.

- Add butter and icing sugar in a mixing bowl. Blend well with spatula.

- Slowly add cornstarch, vanilla extract, and flour into mixture while blending with an electric mixer or spatula.

- Take the dough into your hands to form 1-inch balls. Place them ~2 inches apart from one another. Flatten each cookie with a cup or with the base of your palm.

- Bake on the top shelf of the oven for 25 minutes (or until cookies form golden edges).

- Cool for 10 minutes.

Whether you're looking to make a nice study-break snack or want to bake just in time for the holidays, this recipe is not something to shy away from. Good luck!
