Best Free Workouts You Can Do At Home

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Illinois chapter.

With all the anxiety-provoking news surrounding the Coronavirus, it’s vital that we make sure to take care of our physical health, but it’s also important to keep a positive mindset. Self-isolation is a great opportunity to take time for ourselves and improve on aspects of our lives we’ve been too busy to pay attention to—including our fitness.

Despite finding ANY reason to avoid going to the gym and dreaming about a time when I had a better excuse than my own personal laziness, I’ve never wanted to work out more in my life now that I can’t. Luckily, clothing brands, apps and trainers are providing free at-home workout routines digitally that would normally only be available through a pricey membership or sketchy subscription plan.

Since there are only so many walks I can go on with my mom and with no access to public gyms or exercise classes, I’ve gathered up a list of some of my favorite at-home workout options full of free fitness fun.

So, put down that Cheez-It box and stop eating all your quarantine snacks; it’s time to get moving.

1. Orange Theory

Orange Theory has been all the trend lately and now is the perfect time to see what all the hype is about for FREE. Get personal lessons taught by top instructors who coach you through some intense 30-minute HIIT workouts accessed on their website.

2. Lululemon

Lululemon is offering Instagram Live yoga classes, so be sure to check their feed at the beginning of each week to see their schedule. I mean, we pay A LOT for their leggings…we deserve this.

3. SoulCycle

Workouts are even being offered on platforms like Instagram where some of SoulCycle’s instructors are hosting classes off their personal accounts. Check out the company’s main Instagram for their weekly schedule of routines, dance parties and inspiring talks by professionals to get your mind and body in great shape.

4. CorePower Yoga

CorePower Yoga is offering access to classes on their online website which normally costs $19.99/month. So, make your own matcha latte (I miss you Starbucks) and prepare yourself for a relaxing 30 to 60 minutes of balance and bliss. Namaste ladies.

5. Peloton

Although they aren’t offering a free bike to place in front of the city-view window of your gorgeous all glass spare room (none of which I have), they’re providing a free 90-day trial of their app which has plenty of workout routines that require little to no equipment.

6. Gymshark

Gymshark is offering free access to their fitness plans through their app which even lets you customize your own routines. I wish they were also offering free athletic wear but I’ll take what I can get.
