Yes, it is that time again. At the end of the semester, there are more crying than usual and more emailing teachers to miraculously bring your 45 into a 95.  It is the time where we are searching for the notes that we carelessly took at the beginning of the semester because your teacher announced that the exam would be cumulative. It’s finals season.

What makes this final season a bit harder is that we have to do it during a pandemic. But just like we survived countless finals before this, we shall have victory this year as well! That’s why I am here to tell you don’t forget to breathe.

It’s imperative that you find time to take care of your mental health during this time because stressing out will not help you to be successful, but instead, know that this too shall pass. Here are some ways will allow you to overcome and conquer finals and enjoy your break without worries.

First, make a schedule and stay organized.

When you have all your ducks in a row, you feel on top of things, and anxiety is less likely to happen. Organize time for studying, write due dates, create tabs for all your subjects, so they are all in an easy to find place, and also don’t forget to squeeze some “me” time in.

Secondly, you need to sleep, sleep, sleep.

Pulling all-nighters will not benefit you mentally. You need a good night’s sleep to feel refreshed and ready to take on your exam. This goes hand in hand with scheduling because when you allow time to study, you won’t have to cram the night before and feel anxious for not being prepared.

Lastly, don’t look back!

What’s done is done. When you are finished taking that final, there is no need to be hard on yourself and overthink what answers you could’ve put. Move forward and know that you tried your best. You are only going to get the result you want based on the effort you put in. After the finals are all done, treat yourself and enjoy your break!
