Let’s Spill the Tea on Tea

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Furman chapter.

Finally, tea is becoming trendy again. With all the coffee craze still buzzing around, tea is up and coming. That’s because there is literally a tea for everything. And I mean everything. Feeling nauseous? Tea. Feeling anxious? Tea. The list is endless. But since there are so many teas, how are you supposed to know what to drink and when? Well, I am here to help you with that.

Beneficial Morning Teas:

Green Tea: This tea is a great substitute for coffee if you are trying to cut back. Green tea is a natural antioxidant and is great at providing you with energy that sustains you throughout the day. You can also drink it hot or iced, and it pairs great with lemon and honey.

Lemon and Ginger Tea: Lemon is a natural detoxifier for the body. And ginger is a great anti-inflammatory. This energizing and immune boosting tea is great in the morning to give your metabolism a boost. If you aren’t a ginger fan, just try some warm water with a squeeze of lemon.

Evening Teas:

Lavender Tea: I can’t stress this enough, if you are having difficulty sleeping drink lavender tea! It will soothe your body and mind, while filling your body with warmth. Who doesn’t love that?

Chamomile Tea: This is another great option for sleep if you aren’t a lavender fan. Chamomile is a flower used to cure many issues. Aside from aiding in sleep, this tea can aid in menstrual pain and help reduce inflammation in the body.

Teas for Every Occasion:

Peppermint Tea: Peppermint is great at reducing stomach pain and that “uneasy” feeling we get sometimes. Peppermint tea is also known for its headache relieving abilities as well as freshening up your breath!

Ginger Tea: GINGER! Ginger is so amazing for us and we don’t get enough of it. Talk about a well-rounded tea. This can help with nausea, reducing inflammation, digestion, immunity, respiratory issues, etc. This is also a great tea after a girl’s night out… trust me.

Elderflower Tea: Elderflower has really amazing anti-cold properties to it. It helps relieve sinus and chest pressure as well as boosting our immunity. This is also known for its beauty benefits as well. It has plenty of antioxidants and things called bioflavonoids which can help prevent wrinkles later in life.

These are just some of the many teas that can help with really any feelings, physical or emotional! There are so many teas out there with such holistic benefits. So try out a bunch and see which ones work for you the best.

And that’s the tea.
