The Moment

HC: When was your passion for health and fitness ignited?

J: I have always been athletic throughout my life but I realized my passion for health and fitness after my freshman year of college. Although my eating habits weren’t too bad, I rarely exercised. I noticed I began to feel different. I got back into a gym routine and began to feel so much better, physically and mentally.

HC: When was the moment you knew you wanted to bring CHAARG to Florida State University?

J: I met up with CHAARG Chapters in Chicago for a spin class at CycleBar in the summer of 2017 and never felt more empowered in my life. I met Elizabeth, the founder of CHAARG and she was so sweet! I knew that I wanted girls at FSU to feel the same way that I did in that moment.

HC: What was it like to start a new chapter from scratch?

J: It was a lot of hard work and dedication, but to me it just felt fun because of how passionate I am about it! It began with an application and once I made it past that round, I had to make a video and go through two rounds of interviews before I was named the Founding Ambassador of CHAARG at Florida State University in early Fall of 2017. Before I could officially establish the chapter on campus, I had to go through training with the National CHAARG Team for the rest of the Fall semester. At the end of the semester, I put out applications for Exec Team positions and interviewed many girls. This was my first time being on the other side of an interview, which was really cool! We promoted CHAARG like crazy over winter break and during the first two weeks of Spring semester and as a new Chapter, we had 80 members in Spring 2018. Now, in Fall 2018, we more than tripled our number of members to 250!

HC: What are 3 words to describe you?

J: Passionate, driven and fun

HC: What’s a fun fact about you?

J: I love to cook!

HC: What’s your favorite life quote?

J: “Be the change you want to see in the world” – Ghandi

On Campus

HC: What’s what you love the most of your CHAARG girls?

J: I love seeing my CHAARG members grow close as friends. I wanted girls to find their home away from home and seeing CHAARGies hanging out outside of our events makes my heart so warm!

HC: What motivates you to keep continue your role as an Ambassador?

J: My members are my motivation! Seeing them make a positive difference in their lives inspires me to keep on going. The main reason I started CHAARG was for college girls to find a positive and healthy environment. Seeing that happen right before my eyes makes me so excited for the new members who join each semester!

Inspire

HC: What is your passion?

J: Making a positive difference in the lives of others.

HC: Why are you #inCHAARG?

J: I am #inCHAARG because as CHAARG would say, owning your fitness is owning your life. CHAARG has helped me become a healthier person both physically and mentally.

Personal

HC: How has CHAARG has helped you grow as a person?

J: CHAARG has helped me grow as a person because it has helped me to focus on the more positive things in life rather than the negative and taught me that sometimes it’s okay to think of yourself before others. CHAARG is a huge support system and it has helped me become a better support system for others as well. Because of CHAARG, I can publicly speak without shaking like I used to. I am more comfortable with people than I have ever been and I thank CHAARG for that!

HC: If you could work out with anyone dead or alive, what workout would you do and who would you work out with?

J: I would do some kind of HIIT (high intensity) with Elizabeth Tavierne, the Founder of CHAARG! She is a huge inspiration to me and has made a difference in my life and although we did a huge group workout together at the CHAARG Retreat in June, I would love to personally workout with her!
