5 Pinterest Boards For Every Collegiette

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at FSU chapter.

Ah, Pinterest, where we find ourselves neurotically planning every figment of our future lives (ahem hello “dream wedding” board), as well as avoiding any and all assignments/responsibilities. Where we’re convinced that no beautifully crafted DIY project proves too difficult, nor any professionally baked cupcake out of reach. This all-encompassing website (while totally time consuming) is an extremely popular, not to mention convenient tool utilized by collegiette women everywhere. Trust me ladies, I understand the struggle. Five minutes spent perusing Pinterest for helpful study tips/hacks mysteriously evolves into a full-blown hour of manically pinning workout routines promising a “totally toned tush” (unfortunately I’m speaking from experience here…). This being said, Pinterest is a great way to maintain positivity, learn totally helpful tools relating to any situation imaginable, and should be utilized by all collegiette women! Whether you already have a Pinterest or you’re new to the scene, consider establishing these five necessary, yet addictive boards to get you through the day!

The Inspirational “Awe” Board

Components:

Small Animals, Babies, Elderly Love, and Girl Power Quotes.

Reason:

Sometimes we all get a case of the inevitable college blues. You know those nights when you’re completely swamped with work? Maybe you procrastinated hardcore all semester leaving you super stressed out or maybe you’re feeling super homesick and in need of a big ol’ hug. Either way, this board serves as a surefire pick me up, guaranteed to put a reassuring smile on your face. Compile your favorite inspirational song lyrics and cuddly puppies and you’ll feel better in no time.

The Vacation / Future Plans Board

Components:

Tropical Islands, Resume Tips, Paint Swatches, Wedding Invitations.

Reason:

A future aspirations board is the ideal grouping of future parenting guides, wedding ideas, and instructions on how to dress for any important future interview opportunities. While we’re still fairly young, we’ve all given some sort of thought as to what we want out of life. Feeling worn out and overworked from school, it’s easy to occasionally lose sight of your dreams. Maybe you’re sitting in the library studying, when all you’d rather be doing is tanning on a secluded private resort. This board serves to give you something to look forward to and encourage you to work hard to achieve all that you aspire to be/have in life.

The Fashion / Beauty Board

Components:

Your Dream Closet, Five-Minute Hairstyles, Makeup Tips.

Reason:

Even though we may prefer wearing yoga pants and running shoes to class 4/5 days a week, there’s a definite fashionista within all of us. Maybe you’re just compiling your dream wardrobe for the future or looking for inspiration within your own closet for your next night out on the town. Trying to fit in as much snooze time as possible before that dreaded 8am? This board is perfect for quick and easy hairstyles and morning makeup routines made simple.

The Healthy Eating / Fitness Board

Components:

Recipes, Home Workout Routines, Healthy Grocery List, Coupons.

Reason:

As I’m sure we’ve all discovered, the freshman 15 is real and should be feared by all. With fast food binges and weekend drinking, it can be a challenge to maintain the figure you may have possessed in high school. This board serves to prove that fitness and healthy habits are achievable in a college setting, as well as to provide inspiration for acquiring that toned and tanned body you’ve been yearning for. Hello, bikini season!

The Organizational / Craft Board

Components:

T-Shirt, Tank-Top Conversions, DIY Sugar Scrub, Dorm Decoration.

Reason:

There’s something so rewarding about DIY projects. Pinterest proves that any mundane household object can be reinvented and repurposed, all with the assistance of some glitter glue and acrylic paint. With college budgets being a little tight, this DIY board can serve to archive cute handmade holiday gift ideas, collect homemade facial/spa remedies, and provide inspiration for cute dorm/apartment decorating/organizational hacks!

When she's not drowning in assigned readings, Sarah enjoys attempting to get celebrities to follow her on Twitter, daily Dunkin Donuts trips, praising Stevie Nicks, and (unsuccesfully) begging her boyfriend to buy her a kitten. Sarah hopes to one day put her witty banter to good use by writing for a clever yet underappreciated TV show, and eventually becoming the next Tina Fey.
