HCX New Year’s Resolutions!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Exeter chapter.

This January, Her Campus Exeter are bringing you a feature on what we’re doing in the New Year, whether it’s how to be more cultured or finally deciding to get fit! But it seems only appropriate to start with New Year’s resolutions… Many of you will already have made your New Year’s resolutions, but for those of you who haven’t, or those of you who are looking for ideas of what else you could change this year, HCX are giving you an insight into what our team are looking to do this year!

Drinking

It’s a big one on and is on many of our minds this year! One member of our committee has promised herself to “not go to every Monday Arena this term”, and save herself money and hangovers. Much better. For another committee member the problem isn’t drinking, it’s what she does when she’s drunk… “I’ve got to stop drunk texting…tweeting…and Facebook-ing”. We agree with her on that one, it’s a feeling of shame the morning after that we could really do without. It also got quite a few “likes” in our group, so I get through feeling this is a common one for us all…

Working

One of the HCX girls has promised herself she’s actually going to get round to doing her dissertation

something we also think is a great idea for any 3rd years out there.  But don’t let this stop you if you’re a fresher or a second year: get on top of your reading and prepare your tutorials this term…yes, all of them!

Money

Stopping spending money in Costa was one that our team agreed on. We have to admit it’s getting to the stage where the baristas are recognising us. A touch embarrassing. Maybe we’ll just switch to Starbucks!

Living

Being typical students that we are, we don’t cook properly every night. So one team member has promised herself (and her mum!) to cook more meals and stop having cereal for dinner. Something most of us should probably consider! However, one member is going in the opposite direction and is foregoing her beloved TP burgers all for the sake of her health: for this we wish her luck, knowing that many good girls have fallen for a drunken TP burger of a Wednesday or Friday night (sometimes in the middle of the night!).

Love

Many of us will have made resolutions to find a nice, respectable boyfriend as Bridget Jones once wisely said. But for some, it has come down to a resolution to avoid the night time sharking!

Whatever your resolution is this year, we wish you the best of luck! Stay tuned for the rest of our New Year, New You feature coming soon…
