Dude, I’m getting my personality back. I’m feeling like myself again

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Endicott chapter.

Sometimes it feels like I’m not getting a degree in journalism or political science, but a degree in how to bounce back from burnout. For me, it’s been a terrible week, but for you maybe you’ve hit the third week in slump. When I feel exhausted from the week it also feels like I am not myself anymore, like I’m drained of my energy and personality.

Self care is never the same for anyone. For me self care is Friday afternoon with nothing to do except little chores that make me feel like I have a little control. I treat it like a reset, getting rid of what’s behind me. Here is exactly what I do to feel like myself again.

Veg out – clear your brain and escape in a TV show or movie, for me Friday afternoons mean WandaVision

Clean your space – sometimes washing the week away helps especially with COVID it is also a safe thing to do always

Meditate – Just a five minute meditation on Headspace is basically like a trip to the gym but for your brain.

Take care of yourself – for me this just means normal hygiene things like taking a shower, painting your nails, and drinking water throughout this.

Journal – writing it down and documenting the day can feel as if it validates what you’re feeling and allows you to give yourself some grace.

Work on your to do list – one of the best feelings in the world is checking the last box in your planner, so something getting work done is self care. Just do what you can and don’t overextend yourself.

Here’s what to avoid – going on Tik Tok, Instagram, and Pinterest, there is nothing worse than comparing yourself to the perfect reels of a day in the life that are all over my for you page. Also, when I am having this moment of reset, I stay away from messages and email because it always does more harm than good. During this time I need to be with myself and my thoughts.
