Dreading this upcoming winter? Read these tips and tricks on how to stay alive and well, as if it were the springtime.

Try to get into a workout routine

I know this can be difficult walking to and from the gym, as this is the most difficult to do in the freezing cold. But, having enough motivation just to get out your door is amazing! To start, try prioritizing a specific amount of time spent at the gym. If it’s thirty minutes, to two hours, make it as though it is a daily privilege. Don’t forget to enjoy it! This is supposed to not only shed those holiday calories, but to de-stress, and boost your mood. To go the extra mile, sit down on a Sunday and plan those workout times, maybe it’s a treadmill run, or maybe it’s a barre class? Have fun with it.

Cook at home

Walking to get food can be a pain every day, so ordering food can be so easy, but costly. Uber Eats, Caviar, and GrubHub can be extremely easy just at the touch of a button. So why not try cooking? Experiment with vegetables and new spices. Focus on orange and green vegetables giving you the best nutrients in regards sugars and fats. For spices, they do not only taste great but also boost your immune system. Squash, carrots, spinach, and kale are great examples of some vegetables, as turmeric and cilantro are great additions to a delicious meal.

Wash your hands frequently

Nothing is worse than catching a cold, or even the flu during the cold winter months. Not only should you wash your hands when needed, but you should do so when not. You do not know what kind of germs can be lying around on door handles, public transportation etc. If you don’t have a sink and soap nearby, consider buying hand sanitizer. Remind yourself to wash your hands even before eating or washing your face, as many people can forget. To prevent dry hands, don’t forget to use hand lotion as well. Keep both sanitizer and lotion in your backpack, and purse. Let’s keep those germs away!

Sleep longer, and better

Sleeping is so, so, so important, and many of us ignore our body telling us it is time to rest. One major factor is not only maybe a busy lifestyle, but technological use, especially our phones. Blue light emitted from computers, television, and cell phones cause us to stay up longer and distract us from sleep schedules. This winter, try to read a book right before you go to bed to not only ease into a sleep faster but retain a better sleep. Not only should you try to prioritize engaging in physical activity, but prioritize sleep overall!

Staying healthy is the most vital during this season; don’t forget to layer up this winter so you don’t catch that cold! Let’s make these subtle changes into big ones.
